My name is Barbara Ann (the "B" of B and D)
We moved to Mount Olive, NJ in 2015, (if you are local to the area you may already know Derek as Silver Hammer Handyman). Derek's love of word-working was him since he was a child. I spent 35 years in the corporate world but always enjoyed decorating and creating for myself, friends and family.
Combining our two passions we started B and D!

Not to mention our creations: are
Derek always had a love for building something. His father owned his own carpentry business and Derek grew up helping on weekends and after school. He now has his own business, silverhammerhandyman.com. You would think at the end of the week he would want to relax but he is always in the shop. Over the years he has made radiator covers, headboards, tv stands, desks, cutting boards, etc, for family, friends and customers. It is definitely his passion that brings him happiness.
As for me, I was a cooperate girl all my life. Then in 2016, I developed a medical condition. that turned my world upside down I saw countless doctors up and down the East Coast trying to get better.
During this time my mom was my biggest cheerleader. She encouraged me to never give up but at the same time to be realistic in my expectations and accepting things I might not be able to change. She saw me struggling to be the person I used to be and to do the things I used to do. My mom showed me without accepting what I couldn't change I would never be at peace...I would never be happy.
In 2019 I lost my mom. She passed away unexpectedly during a family vacation. We lost our dad years earlier and as hard as that was, and as much as I miss him, losing my mom destroyed me. There really is no love like the love of a mother.
While I was grieving losing my mom, I was always grieving the person I used to be. .Losing my mom gave me the strength and determination to find the peace and happiness she always wanted for me.
It's been a difficult journey, A journey I am still on.
Over the years Derek would cut wood and I would make decor for our home or for family and friends.
When my mom was here, no matter what I created I couldn't wait to call her and tell her about it or show it to her when she came to visit. When she passed away, I found myself still talking to her and telling her about the things I made. I
I know in my heart she hears me, she sees me and she is proud. And that brings me peace and happiness!
We are big animal lovers! We have 3 rescues...our dog Sara and our cats Sadie and Ashley.
We support and volunteer at local animal shelters. Throughout the year we will donate a portion of the proceeds from items sold in the Animals Are the Best section in our store.
